Traveling Through The “Valley Of Amazement”

th“Valley Of Amazement” was a book that moved very slowly despite the fantastic and descriptive writing.  I hung in there for a little more than 200 pages, but what made me walk away was the ridiculous plot!  Some unknown gang, one that had not been mentioned at all in the first part of the book, suddenly sought revenge by separating a mother and child!  What mother would board a ship after reading a cryptic letter that her daughter was already aboard and would meet her once the boat set sail?  Then the daughter was kidnapped and forced to work in a brothel.  In the first part of the book, there had already been entirely too much focus on brothels for me, and I knew I couldn’t handle reading about it any further.  I didn’t want to give up on this, but I didn’t want to read 400 more pages based on what I had already read.

  1. The professor appreciates honest book reviews. Have you heard any of the Punchy Land Book Reviews. They are more than honest and funny! The music that goes along with them is amazing. Beware though all they’re skits are catchy in a crazy sort of way…..
