“A Touch Of Stardust” In Classic Hollywood

thA Touch Of Stardust zoomed right into the much talked about making of the film, Gone With The Wind. The story began with Julie moving to Hollywood and getting a job with a movie studio. Soon she interacted with a feisty and outspoken Carole Lombard and started falling in love. Although Julie was the protagonist, I found myself more interested in the love story between Carole and Clark Gable. The highlights for me where their lives and Clark’s struggles on the set, which made Julie’s life less interesting in comparison. The writing just didn’t evoke an emotional response from me for any of the characters, and I was a bit bored despite the intriguing premise. My favorite Kate Alcott novel remains The Dressmaker.
