This “Disclaimer” Isn’t Fooling Anyone

th (2)Now this is what I call a thriller! With heart pounding writing that read quickly, Disclaimer had me dying to figure out what the huge secret was at the heart of this plot. A book within a book presented what was obviously a devastating secret, but the author kept me in the dark as to what it was until about halfway through the novel. Until then, I watched Catherine cringe as she read each page and followed Stephen as he plotted to exact revenge on Catherine and her family.

The secret might not have been one that I cared for, but it presented some interesting moral issues. It called into question Catherine’s decisions as a woman, as a mother, and as a human being. The way that Stephen intentionally tormented Catherine and her family made him a mentally unbalanced antagonist who systematically wanted to cause pain to others. I was spellbound by the vibrant wording that gave each character determination and laser focus to carry out their actions. This was packed with villains, but because the characters were believable it worked very well! By the end, the author revealed that each character had seen only what they wanted to see in each other, and it was that human weakness that pushed them toward the devastation that occurred. The author created an intriguing plot by examining that dark place inside people where lose, pain, or fear can motivate them to act in evil ways.

Its hard to write a review on this without giving away the plot, but let me say this was excellent! I can’t wait to read more by this author.
