Before We Were Strangers was the first thriller I read by Brenda Novak, and I was really surprised that I did not like it nearly as much as her beach reads that included thriller subplots. I was sure I would love this, and well, I didn’t.
This had the same tired story of a woman whose mother disappeared decades ago and now suddenly she returns home to find out once and for all what really happened. Okay. The first half of the book was so boring! There main character kept repeating herself and thinking the same things over and over. Nothing was happening. No new information was being revealed until later, and it was so small that I was just pulling my hair out with frustration. So this was kinda a fail.
